U.S. senators are working on a 鈥渕inibus鈥� appropriations package to fund the government. That package now includes an amendment prohibiting mask mandates on transit supported by Ohio's two senators.

Ohio is among the first states to leave the national group over a letter that suggested threats against school board members might be "domestic terrorism".

Ohio is among the states mentioned in a letter asking for federal help to protect school board members, teachers and students against possible violence.

A spokesman for Ohio's restaurant industry says such mandates create confusion and uncertainty.

Gov. Mike DeWine and statewide medical leaders are trying to convince local school districts to require kids and staff to wear masks in schools. About half of Ohio's k-12 districts don't currently do that.

The mandate applies to indoor spaces only.
